Artist's Statement:
It started with a Brownie camera; I took pictures, developed photos, got an Argus C3, got a Vogtlander Bessamtic; took more pictures, a Nikon, and lots of lenses. A Yahika 654, light stands, backdrop paper, a 4x5, and an 8x10, and opened The Studio. Along the way I was published in Newsweek, New York Times, etc. The Studio was short-lived so it was back to a "more pay" job to make sure I could pay my way in the world. During the next forty years, I found time to hike in the Appalachians, England, Spain, France, Italy, and the Sierras and take lots of pictures.
My focus is now concentrated on an ongoing work called "The Portrait Project". This is a photography project that that asks local community people to pose for a portrait. I've done over 60 portraits so far and have 19 painters who are currently painting portraits based on my photographs. There will be a community show and party to be announced, but as of now we are in still engaged in the creative process.
Images of my work will be on this page shortly.
